Darkness Be My Friend The Tomorrow Series #4 John Marsden Books
My 13 year old son had read 5 books in the Tomorrow Series so far. He (also "we" because I can't help but read along) have really enjoyed them. He has also used them for the subject of several book reports. Now that the movie Red Dawn has been remade, I think that any young teen who loves that movie will surely love these books. I found the trailer to the new Red Dawn movie reminds me a lot of this series of books. There was actually a movie made about the first book in the series, "Tomorrow When the War Began," and it was great. Too bad they have not made any more. Parent Warning or "Heads Up" anyway, the subject of sex and sexual relationships between teens in the stories is a thread throughout the series. The subject matter is not handled gratuitously, but it does come up at least once or twice in each of the books we have read so far.

Darkness Be My Friend The Tomorrow Series #4 John Marsden Books Reviews
Brings to a conclusion the story, it is a not a happy ever after ending. It is actually more along the lines of a real life ending to a story. I do not regret finishing the series.
John Marsden is one of my favorite authors. His work makes the characters realistic and keeps you on the edge of your seat in adventure. This book arrived in excellent condition, was shipped well and quickly.
This continues the story of Elle and her companions, freshly back from a retreat/rest-up in New Zealand. I think it explores a little more of what is going on within Elle's character, and hints at some of the darker developments within. Enjoyable read, but also thought-provoking
Huh? I don't understand some of the negative reviews. I've been reading this series in order and I think this book is as good as the rest. I would have read it in one sitting if I didn't have to get up to go to work the next day. I'm not a fast reader either, but I finished it in record time. There's plenty of action and lots of tension, so you won't be bored. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.
I had never heard of John Marsden or his Tomorrow Series before. I have enjoyed every book. I'm an adult/senior so I guess I don't fit the mold for a young adult series. But love the series all the same!
The third novel kind of left me in a state of "meh," and this one did even more so. I actually didn't bother to read the next installment after this one.
While this book wasn't bad, it suffered in comparison to the other novels in the series. I'm not sure why Marsden suddenly decided that Ellie was incompetent, but that's what I took away from this story. The characters are still interesting overall, and the storyline is still compelling, but I wonder where else he can go with the characters. Ellie hates Lee, Ellie loves Lee, Ellie is disgusted by Homer, Ellie is impressed by Homer, etc etc. But still overall an enjoyable enough read.
