It was a fun read, pretty good story but there were too many errors in word usage, spelling, and overall grammar to fully enjoy the book. I did finish this one to see what happened with Mike and Jessica and Stephen but I don't think I'll read anything else by this author in the future.

A Drop of Paradise Bookworms Alphas Book 1 edition by Alex L Michaels Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This was a a little frustrating to read. The use of past tense and current happenings were used in the same sentence. Than instead of then and hangover instead of hungover are just a few examples of distracting errors. The sexual tension was high at times but it would deflate and the characters were digress into high school immature antics. In the last 5% of the book a rushed explanation of her would be robber and the mysterious fiancée was unveiled with lame or little explanation. The use of descriptions slowed the story down to a snails pace. I did love the little islands they visited and the people they met. It was charming. I wished I liked this more than I did.
A DROP OF PARADISE by Alex L. Michaels is a contemporary romance that has a fun premise and is set in paradise, but also has a few problems that some may not be able to ignore.
Jessica Slade is a librarian turned successful romance writer. After ten books, she is having trouble finishing her current book and believes that maybe taking herself out of her comfort zone will help. A Drop of Paradise was supposed to give her quiet and island beauty, but it turns out to be a crowded resort.
Mike Stone looks like a romance cover model brought to life. He moved to the island and stayed as captain on his own ship that transports tourists around the other islands for day trips. When he sees Jessica, he knows he has to have her.
On a group day trip that Jessica gets coerced into taking, she and Mike end up stranded on a deserted island and the battle begins between these two. Mike likes to rile Jessica and Jessica thinks Mike is nothing, but a muscle bound, overbearing jerk. Can these two see beyond the surface and turn anger and lust into love?
The first portion of this book has a lot of fun banter and quips between Mike and Jessica. Think Taming of the Shrew or War of the Roses. It was fun and entertaining, but for me lasted a little too long before transitioning into the next portion of the book even when you find out why Jessica was holding out for so long. No sex in this part of the book. Then it suddenly turns into an erotica romance that is all about explicit sex scenes with no emotional investment or discussion.
Throughout this book there are quite a few grammar, word usage and spelling errors. Even with these problems, it was a fun read. I feel it would be an even better read if it was proofread and/or edited again and transitioned more smoothly between the battling and sex portions of the book. The H/h and the secondary characters saved this from receiving a lower rating.

While it took me a few chapters to really connect with the characters and get into the story once I did I couldn't put it down. The crazy situations and adventures that Mike and Jessica end up on throughout the book are priceless. It had me wishing I would have a similar vacation experience.
Oh how much I wanted to punch Jessica. How many times was she going to turn her back on Mike??? And how many times was she going to run off or do something stupid? She's an intelligent author!
But regardless, it was fun and sexy and holy cow the sex scenes were on fire. I really enjoyed the story.
Mike Stone saved the day in more ways than one in A Drop in Paradise. He was the voice of reason as the story meanders through a series of mishaps that keeps Mike and Jessica together. If you dreamed up the guy you would hope to be stranded on a deserted island there’s a good chance Mike would be your man! Jessica on the other hand drove me crazy with her flippant, indecisive and dismissive interactions with Mike.
Jessica has taken off to holiday island with the intention of switching off from life and finishing the book she is writing. The beginning of the story delves in and out of Jessica’s mind, sharing snippets of the novel she is determined to write quickly discovering her island retreat is not the environment she envisaged. Distractions were persistently getting between her and her characters. At this rate there was no way her book was going to happen unless it could write itself.
There’s a lot going on to the point I was waiting for a paranormal or psychological twist to come out or an identical twin to justify the dramatic change in Jessica’s behaviour. Unfortunately there was no explanation for her chopping and changing her mind. Then there was the stopping and starting of acting on the undeniable attraction they felt for each other. While Mike had no problems expressing how he felt, the poor guy was receiving mixed messages from Jessica. Now, there were a lot of interruptions from various peoples that went some way to explaining why they never got past kissing for the majority of the book but what astounded me was her running hot and cold. Her reservations were surprising considering from all accounts her writing was alluded to as being explicit.
The dramas Jessica and Mike were forced to endure had a comical and surreal air to them with moments where the situations were wrapped up with scant details and far too quickly. While the ending did bring the story to a conclusion that summed up her destination being pivotal to the plot, it didn’t make up for the confusion brought on by the reason they were stranded in the first place. I am glad I was able to read this book without interruptions in order to keep up with Jessica and her adventure.
In between the frustrations, there was a lot to enjoy in this story. The banter Jessica and Mike shared was entertaining and I always believed they were meant for each other.
A fun and flirty read that had me keeping the pages turning as I wanted to see what adventures Mike and Jessica got up to next!!
It was a fun read, pretty good story but there were too many errors in word usage, spelling, and overall grammar to fully enjoy the book. I did finish this one to see what happened with Mike and Jessica and Stephen but I don't think I'll read anything else by this author in the future.
